Sounds like you answered the question everyone else was too poor to solve: how many rounds will a Hoffman survive? Answer: about 1k rounds.
To clarify, did the lower actually fail in any way? Or is it just starting to show cracks?
I keep wondering if it would be possible to try annealing a lower.…
