Looking at the loops, it looks as if they are intended for molle clips (like malice clips). When I print them I may delete the printed loops & add slots in the back plate for Velcro one-wrap for belt use. It may be stronger that way.

Not a stupid question, it's explained in the README. The loops are 1/2" wide. Personally, I use 1/2" onewrap velcro, it fits perfectly through the loops and around my 2" "battle" belt. Alternatively, you can thread the velcro through MOLLE strapping.

I'm not sure if they make malice clips that fit, but…

I have set up a molle vest with safariland ELS clips to hold either AR mag holders or shotgun shell caddies (or a combination). Leaves the belt for the pistol and pistol mags.
