This article provides instructions on how to perform common LBRY operations if Odysee ever goes down.

Downloading Files[edit]

Downloading files can still be done easily via the LBRY Desktop client

Download LBRY Desktop[edit]

Start off by downloading the LBRY Desktop application. Odysee is just a frontend for LBRY (more on that here)

Fire it up and wait for it to download enough of the blockchain from some peers for you to see Odysee But Green^TM.

Click the "LBRY Desktop" buttons on releases[edit]

Clicking the "LBRY Desktop" button on a release should open it in LBRY Desktop, from which you can download the file. In the case that Odysee goes down completely, file hosting and all, you will download this file from someone else who has it, likely a GunCAD Mirror instance.

If that doesn't work[edit]

In the event that LBRY Desktop shortlinks don't work on your machine, you can right-click them, copy the link, and stuff that link in the search bar of your LBRY Desktop client.

Edge Cases[edit]

I have an Odysee link and want to use it in LBRY Desktop[edit]

Just stuff it in the search bar of LBRY Desktop -- the app will figure it out.
