This short guide details all the requirements for being automatically added to the GunCAD Index.

None of these are hard requirements for being added at all. If you reach out to me, I'll add you unless there's something very wrong with your channel.

Quick Foreword[edit]

The GunCAD Index operates on a very simple principle: it maintains a list of Odysee channels that it knows are GunCAD authors and pulls everything they post (that's not a video) into its database for searching. There's extra stuff for tagging and pulling Odysee view stats and stuff, but that's not important.

What is important is that you know what to do to make the Index find your channel. We have an automated mechanism by which the Index finds new authors -- here's how to make yourself visible.

Requirements[edit]

1. Have an Odysee Channel[edit]

We cannot acquire Anonymous releases. Make your claims under a channel. If you signed up to Odysee without making a channel, you can do so quickly by clicking your user icon in the top-right corner.

2. Have at least one release[edit]

We can't tell if you're a gun designer unless you have a gun design on your channel. Make one.

3. Have the "guncad" tag on that release[edit]

Similar to your channel, we need the guncad tag on just one of your releases. You don't have to add it to every one, you only need to add it to one so we know you read this guide and are an author.

Other Criteria[edit]

We try to vacuum out the corners and catch people who aren't actively watching this documentation, who might not be able to update their releases, etc. To this end, we match a few more corner cases too:

Tag Overload[edit]

If you add tags to your channel through Odysee, you can add up to 5. This is fine, feel free to add that many.

However, if you use other means to interact with your channel, you can add a very large number of tags to your channel. And a lot of people just add all the default ones, which is annoying as hell.

To that end: if you edit your channel's tags via the CLI and add too many, we'll ignore you. Keep it below 10 and you'll be fine.

We maintain a massive list of tags that will work to discover an account. Any of these tags will satisfy condition 2 if you have them on already.

Reposting works[edit]

If a user who is already on the Index reposts one of your claims, that satisfies condition 2. Thus, if you're on the Index and you see something cool someone else made, you should repost it so we can find it.

Automatic tagging rules[edit]

In addition to the "shibboleth" condition for condition 4, we also add you into the Index if any of your releases match an automatic tagging rule. We can be very confident that you're posting guns if, say, you tagged a release with "9mm".
