mp22s (mostly printed 22 silencer)

Jack Banks Design LLC 1.1MiB Released March 30, 2025, 1:08 AM 0.001LBC 3 Reposts
The mp22s (mostly printed 22 silencer) is fully serviceable (cores can be swapped in 10 seconds*) while remaining compliant (aluminum serialized ring is glued to the carbon fiber body). All fouling is contained within the sealed monocore, meaning no cleaning, ever. And it's QUIET! It's noticeably quieter than OP's factory made integral that's metered at 115db, and there is ZERO detectable first round pop. It also has a lovely tone that sounds more like an airgun than a firearm report.

It's also extremely aesthetically pleasing, and not just by gunCAD standards! Very little of the 3d printed components show, and most of what you see is 6061 aluminum (finished however you want (anodizing, cerakote, etc.) and roll wrapped carbon fiber (in whatever pattern and finish you want (e.g. twill matte). The possibilities are practically endless in terms of styling and making it your own!

Not recommended for use on barrels under 10" or for high volume rates of fire.

This open-source release contains the necessary STEP files for developers. If you would like a fully-featured version that's friendly to the casual DIYer, you can purchase the complete package at www.jackbanksdesign.com. The package includes:

>STLs for all parts
>3D printable tools for measuring, cutting, and squaring the tubing to a high level of precision without the need for special tools
>Printable endcap wrench
>Hand drawn supports integrated into model, precluding need for messy autogenerated supports in slicer
>A 30+ page guidebook with 35+ photos and diagrams that:
>Has complete build instructions
>Complete materials/supplies list
>Comprehensive slicer settings and print orientations
>Detailed technical information on version and thread selection
>Detailed information on filament selection

*This design utilizes a perishable monocore that is akin to wipes in the sense that the monocore is, despite being perishable, considered a silencer part under US law, and therefore you cannot have spares. While silencers can be “recored” as long as the serialized part is intact, you cannot possess extra cores to have as backups, for the exact same reason you can’t have extra wipes.

The ATF also holds that replacement of silencer parts must be performed by a licensed SOT. I recommend finding a hobbyist SOT in your area to help you with the maintenance of your mp22s.
