angled for sure, you can see it in this pic. It's called 'get bent remix' I think I found it in the megapack as well.
It's too small to hold like a vertical grip. I use it like any other angled foregrip, with my thumb on the handguard

The small pistol is now acting as a vertical foregrip here, which I believe is a no-no if the AR is also a "pistol". But the AR appears to be plenty long enough to count as a rifle or firearm. I think the commenter is just confused.
