With ivanthetroll's original Ubar design I had an issue with Daniel Defense 32 round magazines. The bolt catch would bind to an extra wedge of plastic on the back edge of the magazine. I talked to ivanthetroll, and learned that the issue related to a change he made between the U-Bolt Vanguard and the UBAR. His goal was to increase the compatibility with Magpul Gen M2 magazines. This seems to have come at the cost of compatibility with Daniel Defense 32 round magazines. I don't own any Magpul Gen M2 magazines, so I decided to create a remix.
I first tried expanding the space between the bolt catch and the magazine well by 1.68mm, and then reducing the front shelf for the eye bolts by an equal amount. This would have fixed the issue. But it shifted the distance between the pivot pin and the beginning of the magwell. Which then didn't allow the magazine to be inserted completely when the upper was attached. The magazine would run into a new shelf that had been created between the lower and the upper.
I then imported both the UBAR and U-Bolt Vanguard into Fusion 360, and I saw exactly how he had shifted the bolt catch forward with the UBAR. I also saw just how close the two designs are to each other. All the holes line up exactly. I then just sliced the bolt catch slot out of both models and inserted the U-Bolt Vanguard bolt catch into the UBAR. I also did a little tweaking to the front of the trigger guard to make the two designs fit together a little better. This is because the UBAR's trigger guard is thicker than the U-Bolt Vanguard's. There are a few artifacts left over around the bolt catch. They are caused by ivanthetroll beveling all the edges on the UBAR. I left them, because they make it much easier to tell the UBAR and this remix apart at a glance.
After printing this remix it resolves my issue with the Daniel Defense 32 round magazines.
