As shown within the folder, there exists patent US2462505A by Horace J. Kennedy; the patent describes pretty easily how full auto operation could occur within a slightly modified 1911 action; start at section 30 on page 4 and end at section 45 on page 5 to understand how it works. I will provide a PDF that discusses how it works in pretty simple terms so we can get some creative juices flowing. I know this may seem dumb, but I was inspired by Hyman Lebman and his designs that converted 1911s, and considering he figured it out in the 1930s, I thought I might be able to do it also; HOWEVER, there's absolutely zero information about how he was even able to do it online. There is one rendition of it that could work, from a “smallarmsreview” article from 2001 (1911 Machine Pistol - Small Arms Review), but I really don’t understand how it would work because it's not giving a good explanation.
However, as stated in the article, this patent is an updated version of the alleged "crude" design by Hyman Lebman, which could provide us with some guidance on how to accomplish this task more easily. Thus, if you want to help do something cool, hopefully you can figure it out and maybe develop some ideas because im just beyond frustrated at this point.
