The BN39 is a stick grenade modelled after the N39 Nebelhandgranate. It uses a heavy duty cardboard tube as a handle and a printed head and furniture. The overall cost of the assembled device is under $10 and it is partially recoverable and reuseable. There are no regulated components and it can be assembled from commercially available parts. The device is roughly copied from an inert original in my collection, with changes to make printing easier and conversion of some parts to imperial measurements.
The BN39 is capable of sending 180 cubic cm of a smoke generating compound a great distance due to the added leverage given by the handle.
The BN39 is safe and simple to operate. The device is activated by pulling a cord within the base, igniting the device. The pull string is contained within the handle by a safety cap. The head containing the smoke compound can be removed and stored separately from the fuse.
When creating the fuse, use a pull cord design and place it in the handle stem so it can be removed from the main charge.
