The SJCAM C100+ camera is relatively cheap (Amazon US$69), pretty small and very lightweight. I wanted an easy way to record my range trips and "larping sessions" and this does the trick. The camera has an app that you can use to easily start/stop and get your recordings wirelessly. The mounting position is setup a bit like what the marines had on their helmets in the movie Aliens (1986).
There are 3 STL files included in the zipped download.
1. The camera holder (which was baselined from thingiverse model 6627527 - credit to Danielvb_2007).
2. The tactical helmet standard ARC rail mounting bracket.
3. A mini door that slides on to the front of the camera holder (to hide the control button/light).
The camera holder has a small round hole on top, so the camera's microphone has unrestricted access to the world for better audio recording. The camera holder also has an opening at the bottom for quick access to the MicroSD card and to easily charge the camera without having to remove it from the holder/helmet.
Print settings I used (but adjust as you deem necessary):
Layer Height - 0.2mm
Walls - 6
Infill - 99% Gyroid
Support Type - Tree on build plate only
Supports - 30% threshold angle
Only hardware needed is a #10 3/4" screw with a #10 nut to connect the camera holder to the ARC rail bracket (see images in zip file). The ARC rail bracket should be pretty snug on the rail but not so much that it's impossible to slide on/off the helmet.
Would this camera mount hold up to a ton of abuse? Probably not, but for my simple needs it works really well, so I figured I'd share.
Be careful & enjoy!
