PLA has a pretty low glass transition temperature - excuse me for being skeptical on what type of conditions 5k rounds was sent though these. Slow, single shots out of a long barrel of a bolt gun, I guess I could see. Even more skeptical on the 500 rounds through a 4.5" pistol barrel.

Very similiar to the single-shot 'HandiRifle' that H&R used to make. Receiver and stock were interchangeable with dozens of barrelled calibers and even shotgun shells. Thompson Contender did something similiar but kept most in pistol configurations.
