Good luck with the spring. You can find some on Ebay, but typically those aren't sufficiently heat treated and/or they have inferior metallurgy. They tend to deform (flatten) over time. If you use too many coils you will have reduced round capacity. If you use too few coils you will have weak feeding of the rounds. For the 23 round magazine 12 coils seems to be the sweet spot.
