About the size of a screwdriver, this is inserted through the front trunnion before the barrel is pressed in, and interlocks with the face of the bolt once it has been disassembled. It allows you to lap the rear face of the bolt locking lug to mate with the locking lug of the trunnion. A particularly important step if your bolt or trunnion is used, and the other is new. Otherwise the initial break in could open up your headspacing enough to create an unsafe firearm.
