This is a decent and DIY able front sight for the FamAR.
The FamAR does no have the rifle grenade sights, bipod, rear safety selector or features of the FAMAS that are not needed on a semi automatic rifle or easily printed. The FAMAS front sling mount connects to one leg of the bipod left or right, and with no bipod there is no front sling mount on the FamAR.
Originally I intended for the end user to cut a hole in the top handguard and install modern Mlok sling mounts, or cut a hole for picatinny style mounts on the top of the handguard as needed. With a release goal of the 1st of the year and two weeks to collect my project together I left the sling mount out as I trust anybody making this to make decisions on how to modify it.
With a little bit of extra time though, I decided to make a sling mount that doesn't need modification, fits the style even if not necessarily clone correct, and is just as capable of left or right handed use.
To install the sling mount, you will need to replace the 10mm bolt retaining the top handguard assembly with a 20mm bolt. There is 18mm from the top of the sling mount to the picatinny slot so you will need to shim the bolt with washers or trim it.
There is an ambidextrous sling mount and a single left handed sling mount. Flip this part in your 3d printer slicer to make a right handed one.
