This is a walkthrough on how to modify off the shelf rebuildable air cylinders,
more specifically SMC brand 40mm ID rebuildable cylinders, to accept a printable suppressor baffle insert.
The ones included in this pack are a mixture of FTN3, FTN4 baffle stacks and my vz61 overbarrel suppressor.
It’s completely modifiable to take any future baffle stack designs.
Simply hollow out the corresponding insert and stack new baffles.
Once the air cylinder is converted to take the baffles you can replace them with new ones as easily as unscrewing the lid.
Overall a much needed improvement to the current single use style suppressors.
Since these baffles won’t last forever, even printed in stronger more heat resistant materials.
This cylinder design allows you to replace the baffles in a matter of minutes instead of having to build it
completely from scratch every time you burn them out.
They also look cool, and that’s what really matters.
Each manufacturer of rebuildable air cylinders out there has their own styles.
But the key point is they’re all easily accessible, concentric end to end,
designed with pressure in mind, rugged, and with a legitimate use that prevents them from ever being banned.
So the end goal of this project is to open source the idea and to allow the community to find alternative cylinders and methods.
This is just a starting point.
--------------------------------------------Version 1.1--------------------------------------------
2024, December 24th Fix:
Fixed issue with missing muzzle break in readme, and several baffle stacks having an OD of 44mm instead of 40mm.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Testing some alternative mounting methods and jigs so look forward to some updates on this pack.
Also be careful when tapping. take your time. and make sure everything's straight.
